Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

This word has suddenly taken on a buzz effect for Republicans attempts to explain the inexplicable. In this instance, they say they want Americans to have "Certainty" so they are willing to , with certainty, raise your taxes if you make less than a million dollars a year. Their chief emissary of this message and word, has been Mr. Eric Cant-er, or" EC with a permanent smirk".

I have noticed that we don't see EC too much until Boehner starts bellowing his marching orders for The President Of the United States. How absurd is that?

Reading between these murky lines, I now offer my conclusion on this fiasco they are in now with the payroll tax cuts, or now known as the only tax cut in history opposed by the Republican Party and / or it's leaders. Where is Grover Norquist now? What about that "pledge". Oh, I see!

As I see it, somebody told the Speaker that they had the votes for the McConnell engineered compromise reached in the Senate. I have also noticed that McConnell has ducked back into his shell here. I wonder why!

Anyway, somehow, whoever??? counted those votes for Mr. Speaker , made at least one error, wouldn't you say? Now...oops...we really don't have our needed votes after all, John.

If you need help deciphering who that someone is, let me offer a clue....EC with a permanent smirk jumps to the forefront of rational minds, doesn't it?

I didn't think anything or anyone could make me feel sorry for John Boehner and the sorry job he does as Speaker. But, I honestly do at this point. Must be hard to "bellow" with that knife in your back. And, that permanent smirk really drives that blade in . Why, it's enough to bring a grown man to  cry!

The certainty we need now is to know for sure that the "throw the bums out" mantra I am hearing now ascribed to Republicans who go along to get along, carries through our next opportunity to do just that.

My name is CF Jackson...and I can prove this message! Trolls Beware!

Dig it. My thought is that EC is PO'd because the tan man got the nod as speaker and he did not. EC has more pull with the TP'ers in the House apparently and the tan man is simply a figurehead at this point. Hope that wasn't a derail.

Nice little satire, made me chortle. The GOP stole a page from my father's playbook: "Do as I say, not as I do".

Thanks for the article on the key issue of the day

I have a couple of comment son points you make above

they are willing to , with certainty, raise your taxes if you make less than a million dollars a year.

Republicans want to extend the tax rate reduction for an entire year rather than two months

If the rates end the payroll tax rate will go back up for every earner whether they make more or less than a million dollars per year.

the only tax cut in history opposed by the Republican Party

Simply not true, the Republicans want to extend the payroll tax cut for an entire year rather than for two months.

Thanks for the article and the ability comment

Robert in Ohio...good to see you offering your views. Nobody believes the House's actions here. Not just me. I have never "not afforded you the ability to comment". Why would I start now?

I was merely thanking you for the forum to speak not implying that you ever had not

I always enjoy the debate on your threads and articles

The actions of the House speak for themselves, they have a bill the Senate does not like and the Senate has a bill they do not like - the solution as provided by the rules of the Senate and the House is to go to a conference committee to work out the differences. That is what the Republicans have proposed.

Robert in Ohio, I think you know the value I place on our vine sessions. I appreciate the fact that you are civilized as much as I appreciate your points of view.

I just have to ask you. Do you really believe the comment you just posted? and , my next question, or observation I should say is, you must be really rich. I take it for granted that you vote your own interests, but ask you to examine or re-examine this.

What the House proposes can fill the Grand Canyon, and much of the time covering each and every subject. I am sick of proposals that fail to produce. They need to take action. IF ONLY, for their constituents. That is the honorable thing.

I consider you an honorable person, or I would not be able to speak to you this way. I hope you see that. I only ask that you put your keen eye of "civility" to this issue and its players. Thx again for commenting.

I do or I would not have posted it.

I am hardly rich, I am semi-retired without a pension and not old enough for social security.

My wife and I saved a lot over the years (she mostly); we own our home and an income property as we are living off the money she saved and invested. We get by and that is all we need.

Really rich, that my friend ins the best laugh I have had today and I thank you for it

It was not my intention to cause laughter on your part. Then, based upon your answer, you do not vote your own interests. Why?

Great back and forth guys. It's refreshing to see civil debate for a change. If I might interject, I think the GOP leadership has lost control in the House. Kind of like the insane running the asylum. The Senate proposal, while not what either side wanted, served a purpose. I've heard GOP talking points along the lines of "the dems don't want to extend the cuts for a full year, but we do" and it's disingenuous at best to say such a thing. The reality is, they do. But, and I can't emphasize the but enough, the Dems don't want all the junk the GOP attached to the bill. It's as simple as that. For a party that claims to want to eliminate pork, it seems like they stuffed the bill with bacon then wrapped it in a pork chop wrapped in bacon. (sorry, kinda just made myself hungry....baconnnnnn). Anyway, that's my take. Thanks guys.

You have no idea how I vote but I will humor you

I voted for Reagan, Bush the elder, Clinton, Bush the younger and Hillary (write in)

IN Ohio I voted for Sen Sherrod Brown and Sen Portman

I voted against Issue 2 and for Issue 3 in the recent Ohio elections

I vote for people not parties and it is based on my assessment at the time on who I think will do the best job, I have not always been semi-retired you know

My interests are in voting for the best person for each position on the ballot and not for a Democratic ticket or Republican ticket which is the definition of ignorance in my opinion
